[subject]
[subject] is an ongoing series of multisensory installations constructing a vision of AI and neuroscience as accessible tools for interactive exploration of neurodiversity and perceptual subjectivity, that can exist independently of traditionally academic spaces.
Using a combination of live brain imaging, generative audio and visuals, machine learning, lighting, space design, and scent to establish immersive, reactive physical and perceptual micro-environments reminiscent of research spaces, [subject] questions what it means to be studied, and what it means to engage with an external realization of one’s inner world, where the “subject” is also the “object” - both fully immersed and removed from the self, yet in control of an environment that is experienced wholly and individually. [subject] constitutes a call to organically commune with and reflect on one’s own perception, and to put forward a reimagination of the future of AI and neuroscientific exploration that celebrates representations of queerness, synesthesia, and emotionality.
